Company Profile:
From it's earliest beginnings in 1936, Kunau Implement has been a
family owned business with strong commitment to meeting the needs of
their customers...
1930's : As Kunau brothers Robert and Milo marketed International
Harvester trucks and machinery in the years following the Great
Depression, they faced their share of struggles. In overcoming their
obstacles, they created a strong reputation, a legacy, for their
family name...one that would be passed on for generation to
generation...
1940's : In an effort to provide services to a greater customer
base, Robert and his wife, Margaret, build a new facility in
Preston, Iowa, leaving Milo to continue the Miles IH truck
operations. Kunau Implement was born, marketing New Holland and
International Harvester farm equipment to greater meet the needs of
their rural customers.
1950's : The fifties were a time of great change and growth. The
post war boom encouraged family farms to grow and so did their
needs. Kunau Implement's staff doubled to accommodate the growth,
making sure their customers received quality equipment, parts, and
service. Focusing attention on the customer, Kunau Implement
broadened its fine reputation for service.
1960's : As technology progressed with the emergence of the space
program in the United States, Kunau Implement saw progress in the
advancement of more product lines and in the capabilities of the
products themselves. The commitment to quality was strengthened when
son, Daniel, officially joined the Kunau Implement team after
graduating from St. Olaf College.
1970's : The end of the Vietnam War marked the seventies, and Kunau
Implement marked that decade with the addition of a second son,
Richard, to the Implement business. The Kunau team continued to
carry only quality products and parts, and took a lot of pride in
their customers' satisfaction year after year.
1980's : Continuing the legacy, the third generation joined Kunau
Implement in the addition of Daniel's son, Todd. Focus on employee
training of products and service continues to bring the best of both
to the customer during this decade and in the decades to come.
1990's : Because Kunau Implement is committed to customer's
convenience, a new facility was completed in 1994 in DeWitt, Iowa,
serving the area west of Preston, Iowa. This new location widened
the customer base and increased the number and variety of products
available. Kunau Implement's tradition of excellent service and
dedication to customer satisfaction was celebrated by a sixtieth
anniversary in 1995.
2000’s : Change comes to farming at an unbelievable pace. Kunau
Implement rolls out “Signal from Kunau Implement,” an independent
RTK tower network to provide cutting-edge precision to our customers
seeking new levels of productivity and efficiency. This sub-inch
accuracy dovetailed nicely with strip-till practices and products
from Orthman and Case/DMI become very popular. Peter Kunau, son of
Dick, joins the company bringing his technical skills and experience
to the service department. In August of 2007 Farm Equipment Magazine
bestows “Best in Class” status on Kunau Implement from a field of
peers. In 2008, for the second year in a row, Kunau Implement has
been chosen "Best in Class Dealer of the Year". With two facilites, a committed staff and excellent products,
it is no wonder the legacy that Robert Kunau began still continues.
